I’m getting worse at making titles.

Let me start off by saying I was going to make this post about Gamescom, but I didn’t see anything good so I decided to talk about Call of Duty.

For some time now, fans have pretty much known exactly what the next Call of Duty title was going to be due to rumors. The first trailer released on August 19th, with an official worldwide reveal set for August 26th. The reveal took place during a cool in game event in Warzone.

During the event, players were tasked with doing a number of objectives with sirens blaring in the background, words flashing on screen, and a voice in the background.

It’s that time of the year folks. Call of Duty season is almost upon us, and it’s Treyarch’s turn to save us.

I think what came as the biggest surprise was information that came out a day before the reveal. Cold War is set after Black Ops 1 and is a direct sequel. It’s an interesting choice especially since we all assumed Treyarch was going to either restart the story similar to Modern Warfare or not give us a story since Black Ops 4 lacked one.

The official description of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

Since it is a direct sequel expect to see all the familiar faces Black Ops 1 had with Frank Woods’ grizzly screaming front and center. Hell you can preorder the game now and use him as an operator in Warzone. Speaking of which….

• Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Ultimate Edition: Includes a copy of the game on PS4, a PS5 copy, the Land, Sea, and Air Pack which consists of three Operator Skins, three Vehicle Skins, and three Weapon Blueprint and finally a Battle Pass Bundle with 1 Season Battle Pass and 20 Tier Skips.

There’s a bunch of fancy differences between the editions, and the Cross-Gen bundle pretty much confirms Activision won’t do free upgrades to next gen consoles (big shocker there). All preorders grant access to the MP beta which is set to launch October 9th (according to sources).

Along with all this info, we got some pretty interesting details about the campaign with one of them being that you create your own character that you play as from start to finish. Besides that, there are multiple endings, a few missions that will involve trippy sequences, player choices in conversations, and more. Sounds ambitious, but not surprising since Treyarch usually are the ones who take chances in the campaign department.

Interestingly enough, this game will follow in Modern Warfare’s footsteps by allowing for cross-play, cross progression and similar battle pass system. Expect to see Warzone tagging along too since they can’t just forget the cash cow they created now can they? I’m interested to see how they do any events or cross overs between both games.

I’m a Treyarch dude. I see Treyarch, I get excited. I think the teenager in me still gets excited when I see a CoD trailer, and this one definitely got me hyped. Expect to get my full run down of the MP reveal when it takes place on September 9th.
